This blog entitled “Perseverance” is being written for those that are struggling with seeing answers to their prayers.
This morning as I was getting ready to take my husband to his tenth surgery in two years, my mind raced to the multiple people that stood before us in previous years crying out to God for answers WHY they haven’t been healed. Their words to us were, “I have prayed and prayed. Why isn’t God healing me?” Others have questioned us as to why God hasn’t answered their prayers concerning their loved one’s salvations, deliverances, marital problems, etc. We would answer them as any good Christian would with, “God is in control; God is working behind the scenes; Stay strong; Keep the faith; Keep believing; We are standing in the gap for you; We are standing in agreement with you; You are an overcomer; You will see your healing.” Whatever the need was, we believed with them and for them. Yet today, some of these same people are still waiting for their healing and for their answers. We are still believing God will heal them, we are still believing God will save and deliver their loved ones, heal marriages, etc.; we will not give up on God performing miracles for them! We will all “Persevere”.
The Bible has much to say on perseverance. A couple of my favorite scriptures on this subject are found in 2 Peter and Romans, mainly because my calling is in spiritual maturity. I see these scriptures as a progression of our walk with the Lord, so if you are a goal-setter, use these verses to accomplish fruitful growth.
2 Peter 1:5-7 – 5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
Romans 5:1-4 – Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Then we can find hope in endurance and perseverance in the following scripture:
James 5:11 – Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
Matthew 24:13 – But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

So, now I start this writing as my husband is in surgery and believing that he heard from God the Father this morning that said, “One and done”, which meant one surgery on his neck will be sufficient.
I sit here reminding myself how good our God is because of ALL the times before He has healed both of us of many things, He is not about to let us down now. So, my trust remains in the only living God and our Savior, Jesus Christ, who made it possible to be healed of all diseases. The Great Physician is guiding the hands of Jerry’s surgeon, the technicians, the nurses, and anyone else that tends to his needs today. To God be the glory and honor!
If you realize how much God loves you, you also know His Word and believe that His promises are yes and amen. When He says that He will never leave you nor forsake you, He means it.
Therefore, my recommendation to anyone reading this that is still needing a healing for yourself or a loved one, for anyone believing for your unsaved loved one, believing for a marriage to be restored, deliverance of drugs and alcohol, needing a financial miracle, a better job; no matter your need: Stay strong my friend, believe that Jesus did not endure the cross in vain. God had a redemptive plan from the beginning of time. He surely has a plan in the making for your life too.
Isaiah 53:5 – But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
