I cannot seem to get away from this scripture I read recently. Jesus was blessing little children when the disciples interrupted.
Luke 18:15-17 – 15 Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. 17 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
Frequently, God will show you something new, or use that time as a reminder, to reveal the truth of scriptures. What was revealed to me this time was the word “disciples”.
Recently my husband was told by the Spirit of the Lord to pay attention to the details of visions he received. I recall that statement many times throughout my days now – “Pay attention to the details”. Therefore, I have intentionally taken my study time in the Word of God to a new level, paying attention to every word that I read.
By doing this, I could easily see it was the disciples that rebuked those bringing the children before our Lord. As I read this story numerous times before, my mind assumed it was the scribes and pharisees that rebuked the people. Why? Because I looked at the word rebuked and related them to their religious spirit, who looked for any way they could to rebuke Jesus. I was quick to understand Matthew 12:10 that the pharisees were always looking for ways to accuse Jesus of wrongdoing against the law. And of course, I believed that the disciples were above that kind of reproach.
Lesson learned: Study; pay attention to the details; even the grammar used would have enlightened me if I had paid attention to the words.
The time is over to read the Bible through in a year for the sake of saying you did so. Truth must be revealed in the days we are living in, and we must find what is truth from God’s Word and His Holy Spirit. When Jesus was speaking to His disciples, He told them how to find truth.
John 14:15-17 – 15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Therefore, paying attention to the voice of God through the Holy Spirit as we read His Word, we will not be deceived. Deception is prominent in the last days, so we see why it is written many times in The Word, “Do not be deceived”. It would be wise not to try to perceive truth on your own, ask God to reveal it as you study the Bible, God’s Holy Word. Live out the authority we have in it:
God speaks to us through His Word, so no matter what you need or what you are going through, your answers are there. If you are still learning how to hear His voice, open the Bible and ask God to show you what He wants to tell you. Your BEST answer is there and when you have a word from the Lord, it becomes your promise, and He will fulfill it. Trust him!

Luke 18:17 – 17 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
Having a five-year old granddaughter that loves Jesus puts a newness in my spirit as I listen to her talk to Him and trust Him in the purest way. Yes, a little child will lead us, showing us infallible love. She is reminding me to have a positive attitude, to search for the good in man and not assume the worst.
Do you see that is what I did? I assumed it was the scribes and pharisees that was doing the rebuking. I assumed the disciples would do better than that, after all, they walked with Jesus in the natural. I assumed that surely was an easy path for them since they had Jesus beside of them. After all, they only needed to imitate Him. Well…..God’s Word gives us the instructions to do the same and He has given us His Holy Spirit that guides and directs us. To me, we need nothing else. I just need to pay more attention to His details.
James 3:17-18 – But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
