John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Have you ever gotten so overwhelmed that you throw up your hands and say, “I can’t handle anymore”? Maybe you just need to stop everything you are doing and find a quiet place to get alone with the Lord. For me, I sit by a mountain stream, allowing the reflection on the water to still my mind and allow the Lord to restore my mind and soul. If you are unable to reach a solitude like this, get into your prayer closet and sit quietly in the Presence of God, or pour your heart out to Him, requesting Him to minister to you. He is just waiting for us to come before Him.
With everything that is going on in the world, it can be overwhelming. It seems that everyone has an opinion about everything and even the professionals in the same field are debating fact and fiction. So, what do we believe? The Word of God and His voice. What is God speaking to you to believe, to act upon? Get alone with HIM and sit in His Presence until you feel the release of all your burdens and the answers to your questions. Obtaining the peace of God will ensure that fear and worry will be released.
Jesus said in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
I teach the book of Revelation and many times have said that people put their head in the sand, so they do not have to deal with what they see and hear. Instead of hiding or dismissing events, we must trust God in all matters, believing He is in control of every situation.
Psalms 42:1-2 – 1As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
The title above this verse says, “Yearning for God in the Midst of Distresses”. Let us take note and yearn for God in our distresses. If we remember WHO God is and all that He can do, it helps us to trust that He’s got it, no matter what the “IT” is. The end of the Bible says – WE WIN, so be encouraged to persevere.
Spend time with our Heavenly Father so He can reveal revelation to you. He will tell you TRUTH, a truth that can be counted on. Do you think you do not have time to just sit and talk to God? Let Jesus be our example of a hectic schedule, for even He had to retreat and get alone with His Father to gain strength to endure and be refreshed. Multiple times we read that Jesus went into the mountain alone. I am sure we all remember His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus was in such agony that an angel appeared to Him to strengthen Him, all while the disciples slept. So, even though the disciples were just a stone’s throw away from Jesus, He was still alone facing the soon coming persecution.
We all get tired. We all get frustrated. We all get concerned. We all get overwhelmed. May we take note of what Jesus said in Luke 21:34-36.
Luke 21:34-36 – 34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Love that! Free your heart from the cares of this life. We can pray that we will be counted worthy to escape ALL that is coming to pass! Look up, for our redemption draws nigh!
