Galatians 6:2 – “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
We have heard it said “When it rains it pours”. Although our trials/tests/tribulation seem to come in waves, as Christians we know from where our help comes from. We are to lean into God and wait for His help, His comfort, His peace.
In this season we are living in, there are multitudes being affected with troubles. Whether physically, emotionally, mentally, financially, or natural circumstances beyond our control, there are many of us that are needing to lift up our hearts and minds to the Way Maker for help. Our troubles do not change who God is, but our troubles do change/disappear BECAUSE OF WHO HE IS.
Isaiah 59:19b – When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. This means that the spirit of the Lord will chase away our enemy before us. Hallelujah!
Understandably that sometimes in our despair, the last thing we want to hear is “God loves you”. Our mind starts screaming “If He really does, then WHY did He allow this to happen?” In our hearts, we know that God does love us, but how do we get our fight back? How do we trust Him to work it all out for good? First step is to tell God how you are feeling, your thoughts on all you are going through. He knows anyway, He is just waiting for you to come to Him.
Although there could be many reasons that we go through trials, the first scripture that comes to my mind today is James 1:2-4: “2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” Please understand that it is God’s desire that we make Heaven our eternal home and that we operate in the fruit of the Spirit while waiting for it. It is called Spiritual Maturity, that God wishes to work through. Ask yourself this question: What am I living for? If your number one priority is not for the Kingdom of God, then we must evaluate our priorities. Yes, family is important; yes, friends are important; our career is also important. But where we spend eternity is most important to our loving Father! The rewards we receive in Heaven are for the work we do while on earth. Is the work you do for your benefit now, or is it worthy of the Kingdom? Be intentional in working for the Lord.

I have been inspired by a young woman named Sarah, who lost her infant son, Kamden, unexpectedly. Sarah turned her tragedy into many blessings for others, beginning with registering her beautiful baby boy to an organ donor registry, acknowledging he was not born in vain. That was a great feat and enough for parents to have to endure. But surprisingly Sarah’s endeavors to keep Kamden’s memory alive did not end there. Sarah and her husband gathered donations to distribute to the Children’s Hospital for his first birthday. Now you see why Sarah is an inspiration to me! What a heart she exemplifies toward so many. She is sharing the heart of Jesus. I had the opportunity recently to tell her how proud I am of her for not turning against God in her despair. Her response says a lot about her relationship with Jesus, she said, “I could not walk this without Him”. She testified that many have asked her how she can be so strong, and she has answered all of them with, “I don’t know how people do it without God”. Her prevailing heart spoke of how Kamden was born to bring salvation to three people (that she knew of). I am sure that her witness to the nurses, doctors, EMT’s, co-workers, etc. through her journey has affected more than she knows.
Sarah and her husband had many opportunities to turn their back on God. After their son went on to be with the Lord, they had additional deaths in their immediate family. I wanted to question God for them, they had just started wholeheartedly living their lives for Jesus, how much more could a young couple take? Thankfully, prayers and love surrounded them. Healing of Sarah’s broken heart, along with her husband and family, are coming through her blessings for others.
Blessing others will in return heal your heart also! That is how the kingdom works! So, out of your pain in this season, ask “What can I do for someone else today?”
As a grandmother with three precious grandbabies living with Jesus, I appreciate Sarah’s faithfulness to her Lord and Savior. It would be easy to relinquish our will and give in to the despair, it is harder to lean not on our own understanding. But raising our faith and trusting in our Lord with all of our heart brings us the peace and comfort that is needed to put one foot in front of another. (References are from Proverbs 3:5) So yes, I too must put myself aside to give and minister to the hurting, the needy, etc. so that God will continue healing my heart.

If you cannot see your way out of the darkness that surrounds you, but are willing to, hear these words in your spirit: “Rise up dear child of Mine. Look up. Begin with one step and then another step. I have your hand, let Me lead you out of your despair. I will guide you into everlasting joy. My desire is to bless you abundantly. Come back to your first love, I am waiting. I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
May I add this prayer: “Father God, show us Your ways, help us to know Your thoughts, lead us Your way. Help us to make the best out of every situation, to look to You from Whom our help comes. Help us to trust You with our whole hearts to bring the outcome, Your perfect will. In Jesus’ Most Precious Name we pray. Amen”
