Thanksgiving always brings forth the word gratitude. This word reminds me of the scripture in Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” Having a merry heart heals our soul.
You may be having a hard time this season in feeling grateful for anything. This is why it is so important to read and know the Word of God. His mercies are new every morning, He will always show us a glimmer of hope in our trying times. Seek Him for yourself and see the truth in this statement.
Philippians 4:8 prompts us to choose our feelings – “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Let us choose to dwell on our blessings, no matter how small they may seem in this moment. For today is just that, a moment of time. James 4:14 – “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”
So, let us not spend our time in sadness, worry or fear. May we establish a happy heart by filling it with GRATITUDE TO GOD, from whom all blessings flow!
May you have a Happy Thanksgiving, full of blessings!
